mebabber what’s changing on your streets

Privacy

Me Babber is a free site showing what’s changing near a Bristol-area postcode, built from public records. It’s run by Geater Ltd (registered in England and Wales, number 10751550), which is responsible for your personal data under UK data protection law.

If you just browse

We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. We count visits with our own cookie-free statistics tool, which tells us which pages are used but not who you are. When you look up a postcode, we use it to find what’s nearby and don’t keep it against you. The maps load from OpenFreeMap, which sees your internet address like any website would.

If you sign up for the Sunday email

We keep your email address, the postcode and distance you chose, and which kinds of news you want. We use them only to send that email. We send it through Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES) in Ireland. We don’t sell or share your details with anyone.

Every email has a link to change your settings or unsubscribe. Unsubscribing deletes your details straight away. If an email bounces or is marked as spam, we keep that address on a do-not-send list so it isn’t emailed again.

If you use the contact or advertising forms

We use what you send only to reply to you. The forms are handled by our own form service, which keeps a copy so messages can’t get lost, and passes them on by email.

The information on the site

Everything comes from public records: the Food Standards Agency, local councils, the police, HM Land Registry, the Department for Transport and FixMyStreet. We don’t publish anyone’s name from those records. If something about you or your property is wrong, email us and we’ll look at it.

Contact and your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the details we hold about you by emailing alright@mebabber.com. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
